Old Growth Woods

Red Cedar

The red cedar we provide is harvested from old growth trees that are cut following regulations on timber sales. Sometimes this material is available in salvaged timbers but limited to sizes and quantities since it is harder to locate in this form. This species of wood is between 200 and 900 years old, making it extremely tight grained and dark red in color.

Old Growth Douglas Fir

Old growth Douglas fir is sawn into dimensional beams, to be used in timber frame projects. This is the preferred and most common species used by timber framers.
